William E. Sayre, 81, Hadley, NY formerly of Lawrenceburg died March 16, 2014 at Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs, NY.

Born on April 13, 1932 in Lawrenceburg, KY he was the son of John L. and Violet (Tomlinson) Sayre.

William served as a minister completing his student ministry at Garrison Church of Christ, Garrison, KY then at ElBethel Church of Christ, Port Jefferson Church of Christ, West Islip Church of Christ, and East Northport Church of Christ. He later was the head of the bereavement group at Huntington Hospital prior to his retirement in 1998.

He moved in with his daughter in the Town of Day in 2008.

William enjoyed woodworking, travel and gardening.

He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Juanita Durr Sayre.

Survivors include four children, Larry E. Sayre and his wife Barbara of Port Jefferson Station, Timothy J. Sayre and his wife Julie of Oklahoma, Kathy Kramer and her husband Frank of Day, Lewis A. Sayre and his wife Rhonda of Selden; one brother, Jim Sayre and his wife Mary of Lawrenceburg, KY; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted April 12 at the Neconset Christian Church, 247 Smithtown Blvd., Neconset, NY. A memorial service will be held in May in Lawrenceburg, KY.
