William Arthur Pope, 96, of Lawrenceburg passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at his residence. He is the husband of his beloved wife of 68 years Ophia Hood Pope.

Born March 7, 1918 in Franklin County, KY, he is the son of the late Willie Robert and Anna Brawner Pope. He worked as a farmer and an employee of the former National Distillers in Frankfort. A recipient of the Purple Heart, he served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. He was a member and deacon of the Alton Christian Church and enjoyed fishing, quail hunting, and playing pool.

Along with his wife he is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Frank) Cox of Lawrenceburg, Debbie Lamberth of Frankfort, and De Anna (Dwight D.) Parker of Owen County, KY; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and a sister, Betty Jean (Paul) West of Versailles.

Including his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, William Todd Lamberth, a sister Alma Turner, and a brother Louis Pope.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, Dec. 26th at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Dwight D. Parker and Noal Cotton, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be 10 – 1 Friday. A private burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
