William Henry "Hank" Amburgey, 91, husband of the late Katherine May "Kay" Bontrager Amburgey, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington. Born January 11, 1926 in Breathitt County, KY, Hank was the son of the late Earnest and Dora Hatton Amburgey.

Hank was an auto mechanic by trade working for Ford dealerships and was the owner of three service stations in Louisville, one known as the Performance Shop for hot rods.  He served his country as a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. He and his late wife were members of the Freedom Baptist Church.

Hank is survived by three children, Don Ray (Barbara) Amburgey of Las Vegas, NV, Linda Jewell (Daniel) Shepherd of Tempe, AZ, and David (Tricia) Bontrager of Williamstown, KY; two grandchildren, Barbara Parkinson and Jason Logan of Phoenix, AZ; three step grandchildren, Shauna Smith, Sandra Shepherd, and Daniel Shepherd; and 8 great grandchildren.

Along with his wife, Hank was preceded in death by a grandson, Don "Donnie" Amburgey; and five siblings, Ira Amburgey, Sylvester Amburgey, Earnest Amburgey, Jr., Beatrice Whisman, and Juanita Dickerson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29 ^th beginning at 1:00 PM at Freedom Baptist Church, 1010 Powell Taylor Rd., Lawrenceburg, KY. Bro. Steve Wells will officiate the service. Burial with military honors will follow in the Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 AM – 1 PM on Wednesday at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Proctor, Marty Bertram, Tyler Hill, Tim Hammonds, Randy Crab, and Jameson Stamper.
