William Earl Bixler Funeral Service Broadcast

William Earl Bixler, age 82 of Lawrenceburg, KY, passed away August 30, 2024 at the Baptist health hospital Louisville, KY. Born in Anderson County, KY on August 1,1942 to the late Wallace B "Pee Wee" Bixler and Alice N. Penny Bixler.

Including his parents William Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jinnie Mae Rucker Bixler; a son, William Jackson Bixler; and grandson, Denton J. "DJ" Bixler; 2 brothers Wallace B "Turkey" Bixler and Robert L. Bixler; and 2 sisters, Alice Pearl Bixler and Anna Belle Mandoza.

During Williams early life he was a member of AME Methodist church, an employee of Sylvania and Gordon Gash Funeral Home for many years. He was a painter by trade and well known throughout the state of Kentucky, painting houses, businesses and notably for painting The Anderson County Courthouse, various law firms and restaurants around the town of Anderson County.

His hobbies included horses, fishing, gun collecting, cars motorcycles pitching horseshoes. He was well known in the community often called Wimearl, Earl, Willie or Betty or Bet-lay depending on what side of town he was visiting. If he was riding his motorcycle, he was referred to as Mr. Hell which was written across the sides of his yellow chopper outlined in red flames. If he was seen riding on top of his horse Lilly, and was called The Black Cowboy, darning a cowboy hat and boots. He even rode olé Lilly in the annual Lawrenceburg Christmas parade several times. Betlay was one of a kind. Whether dancing at the wheel restaurant or standing on a ladder, brush in hand, painting telling a joke to whoever he's painting for. He was multi-talented artist and a builder and a dog whisper or bird whisper.  One thing for sure he never met a stranger.

William Earl retired after his spouse of 58 years passed. He would often be seen sitting on his front porch on Woodford Street waving at the passing cars blowing at him he'd yell 'hey cuz' no matter what nationality. With his cigar in his mouth, fly swatter in his hands, a few birds and cats surrounding him waiting to be fed. He will be missed by many.

William Earl is survived by 6 children 3 from his marital union, Earlene Handley (Bernard), Louisville KY, Rodney Bixler (Jamie Peyton Bixler), Lawrenceburg and Shante Bixler (grandson he raised) Lawrenceburg, KY, Synova Renee Campbell (mother Kim Campbell), Lexington, Corey Bixler and Rayna Bixler (mother Luchanna James Hopkins), Lawrenceburg Kentucky; 18 grandkids; 12 great grandkids; two sisters, Linda Bixler and Nancy Russell, both of Lawrenceburg; and a host of nieces nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

He will go down in Anderson County history, as the man that did it all "His way".

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday, from 5 – 8 P.M. and Friday from 9 A.M. till time of service at 11 A.M.

Serving as pallbearers are Patrick Bixler, Cameron Bixler, Kieran Bixler, Tiny Bixler, Amos Searcy, Shaylon Bixler, DeShaylon Bixler, and Mickel Britt. Junior pallbearers are Taelyn Bixler, Taelynn Bixler, and Tevian Bixler. Honorary bearers are Libby Horn, Chris Bean, Marvin Floyd, Herman Harvey, and Wayne Hanks.
