William Everette Akins, Jr., 65, husband of the late Laure Jane Brown Akins, passed away May 27, 2022 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington, KY.  Born in Atlantic City, NJ on February 20, 1957, he was the son of the late William Everette Akins, Sr. and Ella Marie Harp Akins.

He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps where he receive Expert Rifle Badge.  A retired employee of Quad Graphics in Versailles, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, action movies, and watching football.

Survivors include his three sons, Jason (wife Mary) Akins of VA, Scott (wife Melanie) Akins of Louisville, and Chris Akins of Lawrenceburg; a step-son, Sonny (Gina) Brinegar; 10 grandchildren; multiple great grandchildren; two sisters, Cindy Akins and Dora Paige.  Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Hatfield; a step-daughter, Patty Lovings and a step grandchild.

Service will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 3 ^rd at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  Burial with military honors will follow at the Sand Spring Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM Thursday.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Akins, Scott Akins, Chris Akins, Joseph Hatfield, Jr., Jeremy Vaughn, and Brian Vaughn.

Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
