Wayne Roy Young of Lawrenceburg, KY passed away on May 31, 2017. Wayne was born in Knoxville, TN in 1945. He was preceded in death by his parents Everett W. Young and Dorothy M. Young and a brother, Eugene B. Young. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Pat Covington Young and by his son, Craig, his daughter, Laurie, his grandson, Will, granddaughter, Hannah, sister, Janis Buckner and brother, Mark Young. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunt, Mary Ann Young.

Wayne had a military career of over 27 years in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1970 – 1971 and retiring as a Colonel in 1994. He retired as Director of Physical Support Services for Fayette County Public Schools in 2002. Wayne was a member of First Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg for 25 years where he served as a deacon and a teacher in the Joy Sunday School class.

Wayne had a servant heart. He served his family, his church, his country and in all sought to serve the Lord. Mary Pat, Craig and Laurie are grateful for the gift he was to them. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 – 3 PM Sunday, June 4 ^th followed by the service at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Ehr officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held Monday, June 5 ^th beginning at 10 AM at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine Co., KY.

The deacons of First Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers and the members of the Joy Sunday School class will serve as honorary bearers.
