Vernon Glenn Caldwell, Sr., 85, husband of Rubye Chester Caldwell, passed away on November 1, 2025, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort, KY. Born January 8, 1940, in Mercer County, KY, he was the son of the late Raymond "Bill" Caldwell and Leona Pence Caldwell.

Vernon honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and completed two tours in Vietnam. Over the course of 20 years of service, he was stationed in Germany for four of those years. Following his military career, Vernon worked as a maintenance manager for the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He and his wife lived in Clarksville, TN, for more than 20 years.

He was a member of Alton Baptist Church, Salvisa Masonic Lodge #125, and American Legion Post #34. Vernon raised and showed rabbits and enjoyed fishing, turtle hunting, and camping with his family in his younger years. He was also an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, Rubye, Vernon is survived by his children, LouAnn (Vernon, Jr.) Hyatt and Vernon (Cindy) Caldwell, Jr., both of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren, Huntley Tyler (Anna) Hyatt, William Grant Caldwell, Jesse (Kendra) Nelson, and Jasmine Nelson; six great-grandchildren, Rayley, Grayson, Devyn, Daisy, Huntley, and Jay; and his brother, Ray (Jean) Caldwell of Lawrenceburg.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Huntley Caldwell; stepson, Timothy Nelson; granddaughter, Tia Peavler; and brothers, Roy and Johnny Caldwell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Ellcessor officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and on Thursday after 9:00 AM until the time of the service.

Masonic Rites will be observed at 7:30 PM on Wednesday evening.
