Above all, Verna Mae treasured spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy.
Verna Mae Casey Boggess, 84, wife of the late Billy Manson Boggess, passed away on October 10, 2026, at Harrodsburg Health & Rehabilitation Center in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Born on October 8, 1942, in Frankfort, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Hosea Casey, Sr., and Geneva Thelma Overstreet Casey.
Verna Mae was a member of First Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg and dearly loved her church and pastor. She retired from Wild Turkey Distillery, where she worked in bottling and fermentation. Her home was a welcoming place, often filled with friends and visitors whose company she enjoyed. She loved her dogs, including her beloved Bella Rose, and enjoyed traveling with friends and family on Shockey Tours over the years. Earlier in life, she enjoyed family camping trips and cherished the memories they made together. Above all, Verna Mae treasured spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy.
In addition to her husband and parents, Verna Mae was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Casey, Jr., and Norman Casey; and two sisters, Betty Jo Hawkins and Margaret Ann Campbell.
Verna Mae is survived by her children, Ronnie (Dana) Boggess and Debbie Boggess (Adrain) Varner, all of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Derrick (Kim) Cornish, Chad (Jehna) Cornish, Megan Boggess (Garrett Osborne), and Kylie Boggess; her great-grandchildren, Tanner (MaKinley) Cornish, Parker Cornish, Karson Cornish, Ryder Cornish, Karter Cornish, Kohen Fugate, and Delilah Osborne; and two sisters, Jenny (Lee) Shryock and Edith (Donnie) Fint.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, 701 North Main Street, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky 40342, with Dr. Bob Ehr officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Derrick Cornish, Chad Cornish, Tanner Cornish, Parker Cornish, Megan Boggess, and Kylie Boggess. Honorary pallbearers will be Karson Cornish, Ryder Cornish, Karter Cornish, Kohen Fugate, Delilah Osborne, and Verna Mae’s beloved sisters, Jenny Shryock and Edith Fint.
