Stanley Clay Ewell, Sr., 94, of Lexington, husband of the late Minnie Christeen Turpin Ewell, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Born June 24, 1922 in Fayette County, KY, Stanley was the son of the late Herman Clay and Mary Mae Frazier Ewell.

Along with his wife and parents, Stanley was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Clay Ewell, Jr., a grandson, Ricky Clay Ewell, five sisters, Frances Howard, Louise Wilson, Agnes Davis, Anna Dunn, and Ada Lyons, and two brothers, William David Ewell and Lonnie Ewell.

Mr. Ewell worked as a warehouse manager and retired as the buyer for Kentucky Food Stores in Lexington. He was a member of the Ashland Avenue Baptist Church in Lexington where he taught the Junior Sunday School Dept. for 32 years and served as deacon. One of his enjoyments was playing the harmonica.

His survivors include his daughter, Jill Ewell Earnest (her husband Jim) of Lawrenceburg; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Jason, Jamey, and Joshua Earnest, Nathan Chordas-Ewell, Christy (Mark) Pulliam, Kelley (Jeff) Cross; six great grandchildren, Ally Earnest, Samantha, Eric, and Savanah Ewell, Eric and Justin Cross; and two sisters, Viola Stewart of Lexington and Irene (Junior) Hay of Paris.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, Dec. 15th at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Hershael York officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Georgetown, KY. Visitation will be held the same day from 10 AM – 1 PM Thursday.
