Shirley Jean Butler Updike, 75, of Lawrenceburg passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at her home. She was the daughter of Stanley and Mabel C. Lawrence Butler.

Shirley was born Dec. 5, 1938 in Frankfort, KY. She was a retired KY State Government employee and loved quilting, writing poetry, and providing online spiritual assistance.

Shirley is survived by a son, Victor (Kimberly) McGaughey of Lawrenceburg; a grandson, Kyle Newton; a brother, Stanley Thomas "Tom" Butler of Switzer; a sister, Audra (Don) DeCarlo of Oshawa, Canada; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ann "Annie" Taylor.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 2 – 4 pm Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Cremation was chosen.
