Sarah (Sally) Ann Sims wife of Wesley Sims passed away peacefully in Cape Coral, FL after a lengthy battle with Frontal Temporal Disorder on the 28th of August, 2021. Sally is survived by her husband, Wesley, son, Wesley Newton Jr. (Cathy) of Englewood, Florida and daughter, Sherry Carbary (Bruce) of Beijing, China. Sally is also survived by five granddaughters, a sister, Mary Ellen Stark (Marlyn) of Lacy, Washington and two brothers, Patrick Pendergast of Waddell, Arizona and James Pendergast (Lori) of Port Townsend, WA as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sally was born in Syracuse, NY to Audrey (Cook) and Andrew Pendergast on January 24, 1939. Eventually the family moved to Bremerton, Washington and following high school, Sally completed Nursing School at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Wa. It was in Tacoma she met and

married Wesley Sims. Wesley's Army career took her to Georgia, Alabama, Kansas, and Virginia as well as the Republic of Germany. Tennis was her passion. She was the Womens Champion at both the Post and neighboring city of several of the places the family was stationed.

After Wesley's military career, the family moved to Mukilteo, Washington where Sally became the Everett, WA women's open tennis champion. While in Mukilteo, she worked as a nurse in day care facility, an RN in a private practice, and coached the Everett High school boy's tennis team.

In winter, she frequented the ski slopes of Washington and British Columbia. She added scuba diving to her hobbies including night diving with the Manta Rays in Hawaii. Her bike tours took her down the Rhine River in Austria, around the country of Holland, and The Grand West

Coast International tour from Vancouver, British Columbia 1,728 miles down the west coast to Tijuana, Mexico. After retirement, Sally and Wesley traveled the world via RV, Cruise Ship, and airplane. Their travels took them through 49 states, 26 countries, and 6 continents. Winters found her in Cape Coral, FL growing bananas, oranges, and flowers, and of course…playing tennis.

As her illness progressed, Sally and Wesley moved into the Atrium at Liberty Park, an Assisted Living facility in Cape Coral, Florida where she continued making new friends and making people laugh.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, Sept. 10 ^th at 11 AM at the Lawrenceburg Cemetery with Dr. Mike Hamrick officiating.  Arrangements entrusted to the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.
