Funeral Service Broadcast for Sallie Ripy Crawford

Sallie Ripy Crawford, 78, wife of Jerry D. Crawford, passed away January 28, 2025 at her family home in Lawrenceburg.  Born Lexington, KY on April 1, 1946, Sallie was the daughter of the late Ernest W. Ripy, Jr. and Nita Frazier Ripy.

Along with her parents, Sallie was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Margaret "Marie" Crawford Garmon, and her sister, Madeline Johnson Ripy Prewitt.

A 1964 graduate of Anderson High School, Sallie worked as the director of bottling at Austin Nichols Distillery and later at the Kentucky Department of Tourism for 17 years.  She was a co-owner of Wild Turkey Trace Golf Course in Lawrenceburg, a Keeneland Club member, and a member of the Thoroughbred Club of America.

Including Jerry, her husband of 61 years, Sallie is survived by her son, Jay (wife Cathy) Crawford of Lawrenceburg; a son-in-law, David K. Garmon of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren, Joe Dan Crawford, John Paul Garmon, Stan Crawford, Marlie Forbes Garmon; a great grandson, Jaydan Anthony Crawford; two sisters, Ann Ripy Hochstrasser of Raleigh, NC and June Ripy Whisman of Lawrenceburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, January 31, 2025 at First Christian Church, 300 S. Main St., Lawrenceburg, KY.  Rev. Jim Wheeler will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Friday at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Crawford, Jared Crawford, Travis Kays, David John Hochstrasser, Michael Hochstrasser, Preston Whisman, and Maury Sparrow.
