Ronald Merton Harwood, 86, of Louisville passed away Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY. He is the husband of Nell King Harwood of Louisville. Born October 13, 1928 in Jay, Maine, he was the son of the late Joseph Julian and Marion Viola Jewell Harwood.

Mr. Harwood retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Marine Corps. He served as a combat photographer and a journalist in the Vietnam War.

Including his wife, he is survived by three children, William Harwood of Hawaii, Joanne Harwood of KY, and Jill Wilson of Lawrenceburg; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister, Helen Warren; two brothers, Julian Harwood and Robert Harwood. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Harwood.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
