Funeral Service Broadcast for Bobby Jones

Robert "Bobby" Lawrence Jones, 79, passed away January 5, 2024 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center, Frankfort, KY.  He was born in Covington, KY, the son of the late Lawrence Elmo "Buck" and Dorothy Lucas Jones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Burlita Jones Best.

A graduate of Owen County High School, Bobby was an Army veteran having served in Vietnam and was the recipient of the Good Conduct and Sharpshooter medals, and a Kentucky Colonel. He farmed and worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, retiring in 2008.  Before moving to Lawrenceburg, he was a member of Perry Park Baptist Church in Owen County.

Sports were his passion.  He served as an assistant baseball coach for Hitmen and coached recreational basketball in Anderson County.

He is survived by his wife of many decades, Jean Hammond Jones; six children, Steve L. (Amy) Jones, Creyton Jones, Lajeana Wright, Robbie Jones, Anthony L. Jones, Cameron L. Jones; two grandsons, Steven C. Jones (Morgan) and Jonathan L. Jones; two great granddaughters, Avery and Emma Jones; a sister, Margie Woods and a brother, Billy Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  Bro. Mark Webb will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM Wednesday and after 9 AM Thursday.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stan Walton, John Spencer, Ray Perry, Brad Mitchell, Dale Freeman, and Mike Vinson.  Mark "Mac" McKendree will serve as a honorary pallbearer.
