Richard Wayne "Rick" Sallee, II, age 52, of Lexington, husband of Susan Hardie Sallee, passed away December 3, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  Born April 5, 1968 in Pikeville, KY, Rick was the son of Richard Wayne Sallee I and Modena Salyer Sallee of Pikeville.

An English teacher and Athletic Director at Anderson County High School for over 23 years, Rick served as past president of the 8 ^th Region Athletic Directors Association and served on the 8 ^th Region and KHSAA Policy Boards.  He received his Bachelor's Degree in English and a minor in History along with his Master's in Education from the University of Kentucky.  He later achieved his Rank I from Eastern Kentucky University.  Rick was known for his love of sports, especially North Carolina Basketball, Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and Cincinnati Bengals.  But his greatest love was for his family.

Including his wife and parents, Rick is survived by his three children, Richard Wayne "Tripp" Sallee III, Jake Thomas Sallee, and Kate Elizabeth Sallee; a sister Abby Nicole Sallee of Lexington; father and mother-in-law, Thomas Ray and Mary Lou Hardie of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Carrie Elizabeth Dutton and her husband Tom of New Albany, OH; a brother-in-law, Harry E. Toler of Lexington; a niece Avery Noel Valenta; and nephews, Owen Blaise Valenta and Davis Raymond Valenta.

Rick was preceded in death by his sister in law, Sarah Hardie Toler of Lexington.

Private services will be held at First Alliance Church in Lexington, KY.  Pastor Paul Smith will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Rick's medical team, Dr. Scott Pierce of CHI Health in Lexington, KY; Dr. David Geller of UPMC in Pittsburg, PA; Dr. Milind Javle of MD Anderson in Houston, Texas; Dr. Jonathan Feddock of Central Baptist in Lexington, KY, and their amazing teams for all the love, support and treatment options that enabled Rick to have so much precious time with us.

After the Covid restrictions are lifted a Celebration of Rick's Life will be planned in the spring at the Anderson County High School giving family and friends an opportunity to share their memories of Rick.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, KY.

To abide by the regulations set forth by the State of Kentucky all persons attending a visitation or funeral will be required to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.  Twenty five people, chosen by the family, may attend the services at the funeral home/church.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
