Raymond Ellwood Hunter, age 82, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.  Raymond was born June 29,1943 in Phoenix, AZ to the late Charles Eugene Hunter and Dahlia Henry Hunter.

Raymond was a 65-year union Electrician with IBEW. He was an avid fisherman, competing in bass tournaments around the United States and also loved deep sea fishing. Raymond was an award-winning rodeo rider and roper and was on several bowling leagues over the years. He was an expert chess player, a history buff, and a lifelong seeker of knowledge. Raymond loved to travel and be in the outdoors. But above all else, his favorite pastime was time spent with his grandchildren, especially when he was beating them at cards.

Raymond is survived by his daughter, Erin Lawson of Lawrenceburg; his son, Seth Hunter and his wife Vanessa of Lexington; and his daughter by love, Tammy Norman and her husband Mark of Arizona; his grandchildren, Faith, Dahlia, Grace, Izzy, Cole & Levi; and his brothers, David Hunter of New Mexico and Charles Hunter and his wife Karen of Arizona.

Including his parents, Raymond was preceeded in death by a son, Delbert Hunter.

Raymond chose cremation and he will go home to the mountains he loved so well in Arizona at a later date.
