Ernest "Pete" Cox Funeral Service Broadcast

Ernest "Pete" Cox, age 102, husband of the late Sarah Elizabeth Drury Cox, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024 in Lexington. Pete was born December 20, 1921 in Anderson County, KY to the late Ernest Rondol Cox and Zylpha Zula Cooper Cox.

Including his wife and parents, Pete was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Phillip Franklin; and his siblings, Sam Cox, Tom Cox, Goldie Thompson, Lillie Rucker, Christine Perry and Ralph Cox.

Pete served his country proudly as a PFC in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and was one of the last W.W. II veterans in Anderson County.  On the night before D Day, he guarded ships while they were being loaded with our troops to hit the beaches the next day and bravely fought in the Hurtgen Forest battle.

Pete was a member of Corinth Christian Church and attended New Life Christian Fellowship Church. Pete was a former farmer and a retired employee with Universal Fasteners, working there for over 29 years.  Pete loved jokes and telling riddles, which he was very good at.

Pete is survived by his daughter, Donna Jean Cox Franklin of Lawrenceburg; two grandchildren, Garrett Franklin (Jenny) and NaBeth Turner (Jacob), all of Lawrenceburg; four great grandchildren, NaKayla Casey (Devin), Bailey Turner, Lucas "L.B." Franklin and Sarah Franklin; and two great great grandchildren, Joannah Casey and Denver Casey.

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Garrett Franklin, Bro. Matt Sawyer and Bro. Claude Waldridge officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. and after 10 A.M. Friday till time of service.
