Peggy Spencer Cheak of Oneonta, Alabama, age 80, passed away January 11, 2017 at TLC Nursing Center after a long illness. A native of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, she was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky State College, receiving both bachelor's and master's degrees. Primarily a stay-at-home wife and mother, she taught kindergarten and fourth grade for several years in the Fort Knox, Kentucky, schools. She enjoyed working in the children's Sunday School in her church, collecting her favorite china, and playing bridge. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Oneonta, and a former member of Third Baptist Church, Owensboro, Kentucky.

Predeceasing her were her parents William and Russell Fallis Spencer and a brother Billy. She is survived by her husband of fifty-two years James (Jim) Cheak, and son Spencer (Kitty), Oneonta; daughter, Susan (Craig) Current, Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren, Noah and Maddie, Oneonta, and Caroline and Andrew, Marietta; sisters, Ann (Wayne) Richard, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and Jane Champion, Ft. Wright, Kentucky.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Lemley Funeral Chapel, Oneonta officiated by Rev. Larry Gipson, her pastor. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 10 AM until 12 Noon at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, followed by a graveside service conducted by Rev. Jim Wheeler at Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Noah Cheak, Andrew Current, Thomas Knight, David Richard, Marvin Goff and Carroll Taylor.
