Paul Roger Smith, 77, of Lawrenceburg, husband of Patty Wiard Rice Smith, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington. Paul was born March 5, 1939 in Franklin County, KY, son of the late Duard "Shorty" and Bessie Mae Snow Smith.

Along with his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Warren Smith; his grandson, Jason Paul DeLong; two brothers, Ronald G. Smith and Dayle Thomas Smith; a sister, Joann Smith; and two sisters-in-law, Brenda Crawley Smith and Tina Disponett Smith.

Paul was a retired U.S. Navy veteran who served eleven tours in Vietnam. He and his brother, Ronald G. Smith, owned and operated the former Smith Brothers Home Improvement in Lawrenceburg. He enjoyed fishing and along with his son-in-law fished in tournaments. Paul attended the Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church and Crestwood Baptist Church.

Including his wife Patty, Paul is survived by two daughters, Paula Jean Smith (her partner Melissa Hance) of Dayton, KY and Debra Kay Smith Agee (her husband Richard) of Lawrenceburg; a granddaughter, Chelsea Leigh Agee; a great grandson, Mason Wilder Alexander; and two brothers, Danny Wayne Smith (wife Jean) of Bowling Green and Gayle W. Smith of Lawrenceburg.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 10th at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Al Peach and Bro. Mike Butler officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Hebron Cemetery, Anderson County. Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 PM Monday.

Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Agee, Chelsea Agee, Mason Wilder Alexander, Danny Wayne Smith, Jeremy Smith, Carl Rice, Jack Norton, and Jimmy Ritchey. Honorary bearers will be Gayle Smith, Ray Williams, and Tommy Wiard.
