Pastor Joe Gay, 93, husband of Vina Margaret Byrd Gay, went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Born July 18, 1923 in Franklin County, KY, Joe was the son of the late Billy and Annie Hulker Gay. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Marie Bentley Gay who died in 1982, and his siblings, Berdine, Stanley, Roy, and Ralph Gay, and Ida Mae Marshall.

Pastor Joe started and currently served as pastor of the Golden Pathway Fellowship Church in Lawrenceburg for 27 years. He studied at the Rhema Bible College in Tulsa, OK. Joe served his country during W.W. II as a ship fitter welder with the U.S. Navy. He later worked as a coal truck driver, a farmer, and retired as a welder for Stag Distillery in Frankfort. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Including his wife of 30 years, Pastor Joe is also survived by two sons, Larry (Kay) Gay of Frankfort and Danny (Brenda) Gay of Richmond; two daughters, Misty (Dennis) Peach of Lawrenceburg and Casey Gay (Russell) Goins of Frankfort; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a sister, Nettie Jagendorf of Frankfort.

Funeral services with military honors will be held Friday, January 13th beginning at 1:00 PM at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home led by Pastor Gene Dowell. Visitation will begin at 11 AM until the time of service at 1 PM Friday. Burial will follow at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort, KY.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Satterly, Russell Goins, John Walker, Justin Gay, Dennis Peach, and Forrest Hunter. Honorary bearers will be RV Keeling, Jamie Jones, Bryan Denton, Landon Stivers, Mark Gay and Larry Akins,
