Funeral Service Broadcast for Nancy Cunningham

Nancy Ellen (Burgin) Cunningham, age 74, wife of Warren Cunningham, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025 in Frankfort, KY. She was born on April 22, 1951, in Lexington, KY to the late Samuel Pete and Corene (Nutgrass) Burgin.

Nancy had a strong commitment to her work as a civil servant. She worked as a contracted social worker for the state of Kentucky all the way up to her passing. She had a special place in her heart for people and wanted to make a difference in the lives of those in need. Warren and Nancy impacted the lives of many kids by being foster parents for 15 years. Over those 15 years they fostered 44 kids. Nancy's heart even led her to volunteer at Eastern state Hospital. At the hospital she enjoyed participating in activity night with the patients. She had a firm belief in her faith and demonstrated that by serving at Camp Calvary. Her friends and family will remember her the most by the many lives she left an impression on.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Warren Cunningham; two children, Brian (Melanie) Cunningham of Covington, KY and James Cunningham of Lawrenceburg, KY, and three grandchildren, Bentley Cunningham, Carson Cunningham, and Alivia Cunningham.

Visitation will take place from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home and on Wednesday after 12:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Noal Cotton Jr. and Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow at Highview Cemetery in Chaplin, KY.

Serving as Pallbearers will be, David Nutgrass, Bentley Cunningham, Josh Satterly, Kenny Staton, Bill Caudill, and Michael Curtsinger. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be, Barbara Sutherland, Joyce Wilson, Carson Cunningham, Lisa Stanton, Ginger Starrett and Barbara Spicer.
