Myrtle Lorraine Jackson Britton, 98, wife of the late Gilbert Henry Britton, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 at Heritage Hall Signature Healthcare in Lawrenceburg. Born April 10, 1920 in Mercer County, KY, Myrtle was the daughter of the late James W. Jackson and Florence Darland Jackson.
Along with her husband and parents, Mrs. Britton was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry Loy and Jewell Britton; her sisters, Lucille (Horace) Lester and Thelma Mae Jackson; and her brothers, J.W., Roy Lee, and Elmer Ray Jackson.
Mrs. Britton was a former insurance agent with Banker's Life & Casualty Company. She also worked as their family farm manager, a state and federal employee, and as post master for over 6 years at the Salvisa Post Office. She was a former member of the Salvisa Christian Church.
Mrs. Britton is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn (Al) Abner of Lawrenceburg; 5 granddaughters, Pam Britton of Florida, Robin Gorman of Lawrenceburg, Beverly (Jim) Dodds of Taylorsville, Lorrie (Blaine) Gritton of Salvisa, and Kaye (Steve) Wine of IN; 5 great grandsons, Travis McCrystal, Anthony Gritton, Ryan Lacefield, Adam Gritton, Britton Lacefield; 2 great granddaughters, Elizabeth Knotts and Katrina Wainscott; 6 great-great granddaughters, Kennedy Kelly McCrystal, Alanna Grace McCrystal, Alyssa Faith McCrystal, Mady Rose Wainscott, Gracie Lynn Lacefield, and Lincoln Faye Lacefield; and 3 great-great grandsons, Galvin Isaac Lacefield, Jaydon Scott Gritton, and Ethan Tony Lacefield.
Private graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 20 th at the Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. No public visitation will be held.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
