Matthew Drury Wells, 38, son of the late Jackie A. Wells and Rebecca A. Kain Grimes, passed away April 2, 2021 in Lexington, KY.  Along with his parents, he was predeceased by grandparents, Kathy Kain, Roy Thomas and Lillis Wells.

Born July 20, 1982 in Versailles, KY, Matthew was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving two 18 month tours in Iraq.  Raised by the Catholic faith, he enjoyed music, the arts, fishing, hiking and traveling.  Most of all Matthew loved his family, friends, and his brothers and sisters in Arms.

Survivors include his daughter Caroline Drury Wells of Versailles, a step-father Harry Grimes of Louisville; maternal grandparents, Jack and Alice Kain of Versailles; his siblings, Tom A. (Jennifer) Kain of Lexington, Cindy M. (Mike) Ellis of Ft. Myers, FL, Melissa (Andrew) Strauss of Lexington, Laura L. (Bryan) Brown of Midway, and Michael A. (Maggie) Wells of Lexington; his loved nieces and nephews; and special people in his life, Holly Jennings, Hannah and Lily Gourley.

A time of visitation with the family will be held from 3 – 5 PM Wednesday, April 7 ^th followed by Funeral Mass beginning at 5:00 PM at St. Leo Catholic Church, 295 Huntertown Rd., Versailles, KY.  Fr. Danny Fister will officiate the Mass.  Matthew's cremains will be interred with military honors in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery on April 8, 2021.
