Mary Ellen Ritchie Thurman, 81, wife of the late Chesley Gilbert Thurman, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020.  Born April 9, 1939 in Anderson County, KY, Mary Ellen was the daughter of the late Tero and Ella Christine Snow Ritchie.

Along with her husband and parents, Mary Ellen was preceded in death by all of her sisters and brothers, Ida Mae Morris, Mencie Carlotta Baxter, Barbara Hillard, Eugene Ritchie, and Allen Ritchie.

A housewife and former employee of Fruit of the Loom in Frankfort, Mary Ellen was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.  She especially loved her family and cooking for them while hosting the family gatherings.  She was known for collecting angels and helping others.

She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Diane Woodson (husband Rick) and Wanda Jean Allen (husband Robert Dale) of Lawrenceburg; her grandchildren, Kelli (husband Todd) Wright, Josh (wife Nikki) Allen, both of Lawrenceburg, Ricky Woodson, Jr. of Frankfort, and Jessica Woodson-Stringfellow of Lexington; 7 great grandchildren, Zach and Nich Allen, Shelbi and Kaylee Snow, Luca Woodson, Parker and Archer Stringfellow; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 12 - 2 PM followed by the service at 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Clark, Adam Ritchie, Ray Hall, Ricky Hall, Bobby Thurman, and Timmy Thurman.
