Martin Anthony Elder, 75, husband of Terry Ann Elder, passed away September 1, 2026 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.  Born in Louisville, KY on January 13, 1951, Martin was the son of the late Charles Joseph Elder, Sr. and Ruby Evelyn Sheehan Elder.

Along with his parents, Martin was preceded in death by a daughter Angela Marie Elder on May 29, 2026.  Also preceding him in death were a brother, Charles Joseph Elder, Jr., and two infant sisters.

A graduate of DeSales High School in Louisville, KY, Martin worked for Ford Louisville KY plant before entering the Academy for the Kentucky State Police Academy.  He served the Commonwealth as a trooper for 23 years before retirement.  A member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Martin enjoyed motorcycles, NASCAR, and fishing.  On one occasion he traveled to Alaska for a fishing trip.

Including Terry, his wife of almost 57 years, he is survived by his children, Martin A. "Marty" Elder, II and his wife Lori of Waddy and Paula L. Williams of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Thomas (Caitlyn) Elder, Madison Elder, and Alexis Williams (Cameron) Warford; three great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Jane Miller Elder.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 120 N. Gatewood Ave., Lawrenceburg, KY.  The Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 1:00 PM with Fr. Steve Roberts presiding.  The Kentucky State Police Honor Guard will provide honors.
