Marilyn "Kay" Scheffler Funeral Service LIVE Broadcast

Marilyn "Kay" Hearn Scheffler, 70, passed away at her home in Lawrenceburg, KY, on Friday, September 18, 2026. Born in Carrollton, KY, on June 28, 1956, Kay was the daughter of the late Harry Ephriam Hearn and Mary Virginia Warren Hearn.

Kay enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1980, she served for 20 years, before retiring in 2000. From there she decided to make Lawrenceburg her home. She resurrected the Frankfort chapter, KY058 of the Civil Air Patrol. Kay was highly respected in the Civil Air Patrol and served there for many years as the Squadrant Commander, before retiring last year. Many children passed through under her tutelage during her time, many of which considered her an honorary grandmother. She was described as a strong leader but fair and loving. Kay was also the President of the Anderson County Homemakers Association and helped with Meals on Wheels. She was a devout Baptist whose faith was important to her. Kay was a loving mother, sister, and aunt, who will be deeply missed.

Along with her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her brother, Clinton Hearn and his wife Aileen.

Kay is survived by her son, Steve Scheffler of Lawrenceburg, KY; three brothers, Bill Hearn of Sparta, KY, Ricky Hearn (Melba) of Worthville, KY, and Steve Hearn (Tammy) of Ghent, KY; a sister, Aggie Nicholas (Jeff) of Milford, OH; the father of her son, Charles Scheffler of Frankfort, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow the next day, at 1:00PM on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Ghent Masonic Cemetery, 407 Main Cross St., Ghent, KY 41045.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donation be made to Meals on Wheels c/o Anderson County Senior Center, 160 Township Sq., Lawrenceburg, KY 40342
