Funeral Service Broadcast for Mallie Hodson

Mallie Katherine Waterfill Hodson, age 87, wife of the late Earl Alexander Hodson, Jr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at her home. Born on August 3, 1937, in Lawrenceburg, KY, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Allen Waterfill and Mary Etta Edmonson Waterfill.

Mallie dedicated nearly three decades of her life to nursing, serving as a registered nurse with compassion and care before retiring. In her personal time, she enjoyed many activities, including fishing, baking, gardening, and shopping, and she had a love for collecting antiques. She was a devout Christian who read her Bible daily and was an active member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where she had previously served as a pianist. Mallie treasured time spent with her family and friends. She remained close to her former nursing coworkers throughout her retirement.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mallie was preceded in death by a step-granddaughter, Amber Reese.

Mallie is survived by her son, Thomas Allen Stratton (Sheila); grandchildren Drew Stratton and Katie Dailey (Jeremy); step-grandson, Jason Searcy; step-great grandchildren, Casen Estes and J.J. Searcy;  a sister, Karen Ann Caldwell (Roger); and a niece, Mary Crystal Johnston (Rusty).

A funeral service to celebrate Mallie's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Gritton officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship and Unity Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday starting at 11:00 AM until the time of the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rusty Johnston, Bobby Doss, Kenny Woody, Kerry Markwell, Roger Caldwell, and Darren Royalty.
