Madeline Johnson Ripy Prewitt, age 73, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015 at her home in Lawrenceburg. Madeline was born October 27, 1941 to Nita Frazier and Ernest Whitney Ripy, Jr.

Strong-willed and independent, Madeline lived life purposefully and to the fullest. And with an abundance of Southern charm, grace and gentility, and an impressive wit, she brought smiles and laughter to all who knew her. Her pride of lineage led to a deep and fierce loyalty for her family and she considered them life's greatest gift. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Thoroughbred Club of America.

Madeline leaves to cherish her memory three children, Ann Johnson "Anjie" Sparrow Retrum (Kurt) of Hendersonville, NC, Mary Whitney Sparrow Correll (John) of West Chester, OH, and C. Maurice "Maury" Sparrow III (Craig Wahlgren) of Lexington; five grandchildren, Clark Daniel Hayden (Jaime), Steven Patrick Hayden, Lindsay Nicole Mentrek (Peter), Shane Anthony Kirkland (Justin Boettcher), Taylor Melissa Lawrence (Cameron); and three sisters, Ann Ripy Hochstrasser (Dave), Sallie Ripy Crawford (Jerry), and June Ripy Whisman.

A service to honor Madeline's memory will be held 1:00 PM Friday, Sept. 4th at the First Christian Church, 300 S. Main St., Lawrenceburg, KY with Rev. James Wheeler officiating. A time of visitation will be from 11 am – 1 pm Friday at the church.
