Kimberly Kay Scales Conklin, 59, wife of Michael Duane Conklin, passed away on May 8, 2026, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born March 13, 1967, in Logansport, Indiana, she was the daughter of Constance Lee Brown Scales and the late William Dean Scales.

Kim was a member of Southland Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky, and dedicated years of service as a Medication Manager at Stewart Home & School in Frankfort, Kentucky. A devoted wife, loving mother, and proud "Grammy," Kim treasured her family above all else and found her greatest joy in spending time with her eight beloved grandchildren. She was known for always putting the needs of others before her own and caring deeply for those around her. She was also a passionate advocate for cancer care and touched many lives through her compassion and servant's heart.

Growing up in Logansport, Indiana, Kim was active in school activities, participated in Junior Miss, and attended Hoosier Girls State during her high school years. She worked throughout high school at D&R Fruit Market, where she met the love of her life, Mike — she as a cashier and he as a produce clerk — beginning a lifelong love story. Kim also served as both a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. She was a fan of the Indiana Hoosiers and especially cherished the family's annual trips to Minnesota, creating countless treasured memories with those she loved most.

In addition to her husband of 40 years, Mike Conklin of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and her mother, Constance Scales of Logansport, Indiana, Kim is survived by her children, John Michael Scales-Conklin (Taylor Scott), William Dalton Scales-Conklin (Amanda), and Kaylee Gabrielle Scales-Conklin (AJ Goodlett), all of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; her siblings, William John Scales (Darcy) of Logansport, Indiana, and Melissa Dawn Scales (Bridget Wicklander) of Tooele, Utah; and her grandchildren, Knox, Noah, Mac, Nixon, Miller, Dean, Winslee, and Daisy.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, with Dr. Bob Ehr officiating. A private burial will take place at Camp Nelson National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
