Kelly Victor New, age 93, husband of 72 years to Ella H. Wilson New, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024 at his home in Lawrenceburg.  Kelly was born October 17, 1930 in Gratz, KY to the late John Martin New and Catherine Kelly New.

After graduating from Pleasureville High School, Kelly joined the US Army, and served during the Korean War. Though his time in the Army was short, Kelly managed to rise to the rank of Sargant with the title of specialist being awarded to him in 1955. During his service he was recognized with the following distinctions; Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After being honorably discharged from the military, he joined the local branch of the VFW for many years. Kelly took the skills he learned in the military and turned it into a career where he was a tool and dye maker. He worked for several companies during his career and even ran his own at one point.

Kelly was a member and Elder of the Lawrenceburg First Christian Church; he was very dedicated to his faith, never leaving his home without his bible, and was known for his amazing prayers that he shared with those he loved. Kelly was a dedicated father and grandfather who loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a hardworking man who refused to take a vacation until his wife made him start taking fishing trips with her on the weekends. Kelly was an avid sports fan at every level. Some of his favorite teams were; UK, the Cincinnati Reds, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Anderson County Bearcats in practically any sport.

Including his wife, Kelly is survived by three children; Jerry Wilson New and his wife Kimberly Rife New of Lawrenceburg, Timothy Martin New and his wife Sharon of Louisville, and Elizabeth New-Kapica and her husband Stan of Katonah, NY; grandchildren, Natalie (Paul) Looney, Jarrod (Amy) New, & Austin (Nicole) New all of Frankfort, Kelsey (Taylor) & Hunter (Marissa) New of Lawrenceburg, Carson Kapica & Catherine Kapica of Katonah, NY; and great grandchildren Lachlan, Poppy, McKenna, Jackson, Isabella, Cohen, Trey, Quinn, Addyson, Sutton, Juliana, Chyna, and Nina.

Along with his parents, Kelly was preceded in death by his siblings; Mary Agnes Hoskins (Elijah), Delma Rudd (Henry), and Jessie M. New (Mary Frances).

Services will be held at 1 P.M., Friday, June 7, 2024 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Wheeler and Pastor Terry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Thursday, June 6, 2024 and 11:00 A.M. until the time-of-service Friday at 1:00P.M.
