Keith James, age 75, husband of Zelma Ingguls James, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at his residence in Versailles. Keith was born September 20, 1949 in Lawrenceburg to the late Robert "Franklin" James and Cliffordo C. Cunningham James.

Including his parents, Keith was preceded in death by a sister, Toni James and a brother, Robert F. "Bobby" James, Jr.

Keith, a proud graduate of Anderson County High School, was a talented athlete who played football both in high school and at Eastern Kentucky University. After a dedicated 41-year career, he retired as a warehouse supervisor at Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg, where he was known for his hard work and commitment. Keith was a member at Evergreen Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg and more recently found a home at St. Matthew A.M.E. Church in Midway, KY. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many, and he will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Including his wife Zelma, Keith is survived by three children, Regina Murphy of Lawrenceburg, Tiffany Simmons of Memphis, TN and Burt Simmons and wife Kelly of Lexington; and three grandchildren, Gage Simmons, Sydney Taylor and Isabella Taylor.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with a graveside service following at 1:00 PM at the Woodlawn Hills Cemetery, 1352 Harrodsburg Road, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342. Rev. Joshua Hale will officiate the graveside service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Burt Simmons, Quentin Simmons, Chris Jackson, Michael Brown, Randy Hudson, and Jobey Harvey. Honorary pallbearers will be Gage Simmons, LT Cordray, William Campbell, Terry Brown, George Brown, Mark Brown, Norris Ingguls, and Jeff Washington.
