Jona S. (Jonatansdottir) Richards, 91, widow of Daniel Hunter Richards, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at her home. Born March 3, 1927 in Iceland, Jona was the daughter of the late Jonatan Jonasson and Soffia Sigurdardottir.

Jona was a homemaker and attended the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Waddy, KY. She enjoyed knitting, reading, gardening, arts and crafts.

Jona is survived by her three children, Iris Ragnarsdottir of Iceland, Jon Richards of Lawrenceburg and Linda (Wes) Sanderson of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren, Olafur (Mariya) Halldorsson, Jessica (Nathan) Bradley, Melissa and Abigail Rucker; two step grandchildren, Adam and Emily Sanderson; two great granddaughters, Alexandra and Sofia; and a sister, Ingibjorg (Orville) Armstrong of Galveston, TX.

Along with her husband and parents, Jona was preceded in death by three sisters, Unnur Maria, Sigurros, and Lilja.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15 ^th beginning at 1:00 PM at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Rev. Grant O'Dell will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery, Waddy, KY. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 – 1 Tuesday.
