John Turner "Johnny" Hanks, II, 75, husband of Connie Cox Hanks, passed away on July 29, 2026, at his residence in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Born on March 7, 1951, in Frankfort, Kentucky, he was the son of the late J.T. Hanks and FloEtta Riddle Hanks.

Johnny was of the Baptist faith and a 1969 graduate of Anderson County High School, where he was a three-sport student-athlete, playing football, basketball, and baseball. He continued his education at Eastern Kentucky University, earning a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1973. Johnny retired from the Kentucky Department of Revenue after a career in public service with the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Following his retirement, he worked part-time for the Anderson County PVA Office. He loved playing golf and was a member of the Anderson County Sportsman's Club. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed cheering on the University of Kentucky Wildcats and attending football games.

More than anything, Johnny treasured time spent with his family. One of his greatest joys was following and supporting his grandson, Logan, in football, and he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer him on. Whether on the golf course, watching a ballgame, or simply being surrounded by those he loved, Johnny found his greatest happiness in the people and moments that meant the most to him.

Along with his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Daryl Crawford and Jerry Cubert.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Connie Cox Hanks of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Johnny is survived by his children, Emily (Tony) Cleveland of Frankfort, Kentucky, and John (Jerilyn) Hanks of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Logan (Desi) Woodside of Frankfort, Kentucky, and Jailyn and Jayci Hanks of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; his great-grandchildren, Kannen and Kase Woodside, with Spencer Rae Woodside on the way; his sister, Judy Crawford of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Cubert of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, with Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Hanks, Charlie Cammack, Mitch Crawford, Chris Crawford, Jason Cubert, Brian Stivers, and Billy Hyatt.
