Joe Lacy Lancaster, Jr., 66, husband of Jill Renee Shorder Lancaster, passed to his eternal home on Monday, September 7, 2026 in Lexington, Kentucky. Joe was born June 1, 1960 in Cadiz, Kentucky.

Joe was a highly educated man who worked for the Kentucky State Government. In his time, he received a Bachelor's from Western Kentucky University and his Master's from the University of Louisville. Joe was a devoted Methodist who served as a Lay Minister of the United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church. Joe was known to be blessed with musical talent and could pick up almost any instrument and play it. He never knew a stranger and loved telling stories to his friends. Above all, Joe was an amazing Daddy and Pops.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joe Lacy Lancaster; his mother, Martha Gertrude Ezell Lancaster; and his step-mother Lucy Lancaster.

Including his wife of 38 years, Jill, Joe is survived by two daughters, Catherine Lacy Lancaster Karst (Justin) of Pierce, ID and Emily Renee Lancaster Hartman (Dustin) of Lawrenceburg, KY; three siblings, Peggy Lancaster Smith (Jim) of San Antonio, FL, Terry Parker (Lisa) of Portland, TN, and Connie Allen (Bobby) of Cadiz, KY; two grandchildren, Hadley and Henry; and many numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Funeral service will be held at Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 12:00PM with Rev. Peggy Smith and Rev. Rodney Stewart-Wilcox officiating. Visitation will be Friday, September 11, 2026 from 10:00AM till the time of service at 12:00PM. A private family burial will follow.

Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Karst, Dustin Hartman, Brandon Parker, Bobby Allen, Gary Little, Isaac Kenyon, Steve Hartman, and Sam Royster. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Hartman, Greg Rush, Thomas Lancaster, Jeff Hancock, Scott Maloy, Michael Shorder, Justin Allen, Marc Smith, and Jim Smith.
