Joan Smith Funeral Service Broadcast

Joan Carol Ethington Smith, 73, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in Nicholasville, KY.  Born on January 31, 1950 in Frankfort, KY, she was the daughter of the late Bennie Ethington and Elva Hulette Ethington.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons Lonnie Shouse, Jr. and Jeffrey Scott Shouse.

Joan was a lifelong resident of Kentucky and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Frankfort. She retired as a cashier from Kroger in 2017. Joan was a dedicated member of both the Senior Companion Program and the Bald Knob Alumni, in Frankfort. In her free time, Joan loved listening to live music, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. One of the most important things she had done was care for her friend and sister-in-law, Linda Shouse.

Joan is survived by a daughter Melissa Curry (Jeff) of Nicholasville, KY; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Rodney, Joseph, and Christopher; and several great grandchildren including, Austin, Bretlyn, and Landon.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Monday, Oct. 23, 2023 until the time of service at 6:00 PM Monday at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Rev. David Rayborn will officiate the service. Family has chosen cremation following service.
