Jewell Ray Sutherland, 74, husband of 55 years to Janice Dennis Sutherland, passed away July 8, 2019 at CCH at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, KY.  Born October 15, 1944 in Anderson County, Jewell was the son of the late Jesse and Evelyn (Drury) Sutherland.

Along with his parents, Jewell was preceded in death by his brother Donnie Lee Sutherland.

Jewell was the former owner/operator of Tile Village Truck Stop and Anderson County Petroleum. He later hauled cars for Copart in Lawrenceburg and for the past few years transported cars for By-Pass Motors in Lawrenceburg and Frankfort Toyota.  He was a member of the New Life Christian Fellowship and Wheels of Time Car Club.

Including his wife, Jewell is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer (Joe) McDermott, Julie Sanderson and Jessica Sutherland, all of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren, Joseph (Abby) McDermott of Lexington, Jordan McDermott, Adam Sanderson, and Emily Sanderson, all of Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Carlotta Hyatt and Joy (Allan) Riley, both of Lawrenceburg; a brother, Jesse G. (Josephine) Sutherland of Natick, MA; several nieces, nephews, two aunts, an uncle, and his loving dog Hondo.

Visitation will be held from 3 – 8 Thursday and 10 – 2 Friday at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, July 12 ^th at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Bro. Garrett Franklin and Bro. John Kesel will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph McDermott, Adam Sanderson, Richard Spencer, Bud Snipes, Chris O'Bryan, Kenny Ray Dennis, Bill Hoehn, and Donald Ellis, Jr. Honorary bearers will be Jordan McDermott, Emily Sanderson, and Abby McDermott.
