Obituary

Jerry Wayne Carlton, 76, passed away August 25, 2020.  Born February 1, 1944 in Mercer County, KY, Jerry was the son of the late Robert B. Carlton and Evelyn "Belle" Williams Carlton.

Along with his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by two sons, Clay Carlton and Matthew Carlton, and his brother, Connie Houston Carlton.

A 1962 graduate of Anderson High School, Jerry received a Bachelor's Degree in History from the University of Kentucky in 1966 where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.  Jerry retired as a Local Records Branch Manager for the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives.  He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Lawrenceburg and a former member/president of the Lawrenceburg Lion's Club.   Jerry enjoyed golf and had two career Hole-in-Ones.  His other enjoyments included cooking, politics/history, watching sports, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by two sons, Will (wife Jessi Spaulding) Carlton of Harrodsburg and Graham (wife Nicole Ackerman) Carlton of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren, Kate, Izzie, Harrison, and Thomas; and his sister-in-law, Judy Driskell Carlton of Lawrenceburg.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 29 th from 10 AM – 12 Noon at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  A private family service will follow the gathering.

Honorary bearers will be Gerald Gilpin, Jerry Howell, Chad Carlton, Cole Carlton, Charlie Cammack, and Lee Blythe.

Memorials in memory of Jerry W. Carlton are suggested to the Bluegrass Hospice Care, 643 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601 or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 301 E. Main St., Louisville, KY 40202.
