Jean Carlton Spencer, 82, of Lawrenceburg, wife of the late William Collins "Billy" Spencer, Jr., passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington. Born April 17, 1933 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late John Willie and Marjorie Jeffries Carlton.

Mrs. Spencer was a graduate of Kavanaugh High School and formerly owned and operated the former Hayloft Dress Shop during the 1970's in Lawrenceburg. A member of the First Christian Church, she served in the Ervin Circle and was a member of the Anderson County Homemakers where she was a Master Homemaker and an expert in sewing, crafts and decorating. She and her predeceased husband Billy resided in the family home listed on the Kentucky Historical Society.

Jean is survived by her four children, William C. Spencer, III of Nashville, TN, Robert Y. "Bobby" Spencer and wife Debbie, Nancy Spencer Sea and husband Steve, all of Lawrenceburg, and Johnny Spencer and wife Denise of Harrodsburg; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Judy Bailey and husband David of Frankfort; a brother, Lynn Carlton and wife Rachael of Lawrenceburg. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jean's wonderful caretakers, Rhonda Fackler, Kathy Monroe, and Lesha Barrow.

Along with her husband and parents, Mrs. Spencer was predeceased by two great grandchildren; a sister, Twyla Rose Trisler; and a brother, William Bert Carlton.

Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, Dec. 26th at First Christian Church, 300 S. Main St., with Rev. James Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 am until the time of services at 2 PM Saturday at First Christian Church.
