James Nelson Walker, 88, passed away August 20, 2025, in Lawrenceburg, KY.  James was born January 19, 1937, in Lawrenceburg, KY to the late Horace and Evangeline Walker.

James was a member of Fox Creek Christian Church and attended New Life Christian Fellowship Church. He was a member of the masonic lodge and American Legion Post 34. During his time as a member of Post 34, he assisted in planning and putting on the Anderson County Fair. James cared deeply for his family, including his great Nephew Jonathan Cole. Jonathan thought of James as a second father. His family will remember him by his love of westerns and his dance moves.

James is survived by his sister Delores Mefford; his great Nephews, Jonathan (Shannon) Cole, and Jamie (Rachel) Cole, all of Lawrenceburg; Nieces and Nephews, Carmen Cole, Bailey Cole, JD Cole, Beverly Cotton, Legina Jeffries, Ann Davenport, and Dawn Keeling; and many more Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Lee Cotton Walker; a brother Horace Walker, Jr.; a sister in-law Judy Walker; and a brother in-law Robert Mefford.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM followed by the service beginning at 2:00 PM, at Ritchie and Peach Funeral Home with Mark Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Jamie Cole, Bailey Cole, JD Cole, Charlie Cole, Jeremy Wooldridge, Bobby Mefford Jr., Kevin Walker, and Larry White.
