James Ray Sparrow, 94, of Lawrenceburg died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at Signature Healthcare in Taylorsville, KY. He is the husband of the late Hattie Mae Goodlett Sparrow and son of the late Ernest D. and Lillie Mae Richardson Sparrow.

Mr. Sparrow was born Nov. 10, 1919 in Taylorsville. He worked as a farmer and a retired pressman for Kraft Foods in Lawrenceburg. An active member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Taylorsville, he served as a Sunday school teacher and as Deacon for 25 years.

He is survived by two sons, Joe Sparrow and Jerry Sparrow (Susan), both of Lawrenceburg; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Christine McGee of Shelby Co.; and a brother Gilbert Sparrow of Mt. Eden. He was preceded in death by 2 infant children Jean Hope Sparrow and John Howard Sparrow; 3 sisters, Anna Keeling, Geneva Hagmen, and Mary Elizabeth Sparrow; and 4 brothers, Carl, Wilbert, Cecil Truman, and Kenneth Marion Sparrow.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, Jan. 14th at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Spencer Co. with Bro. Greg Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 8 pm Monday and 8 – 1 Tuesday at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg.
