James Ronald Marcum, 68, of Willisburg, husband of 49 years of Rachel Abshear Marcum, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at his home in Washington County. Born November 2, 1946 in Fayette County, KY, he is the son of the late Hiram and Ethel Warren Hall Marcum.

He is employed as a security guard for Keeneland in Lexington and served in the U.S. Army. A member of the Antioch Christian Church, Mr. Marcum served as Chairman of Board, an Elder of the church, and is a member of the Gideon's International.

Along with his wife, he is survived by four children, Greg Marcum, Sherry (Brad) Carter, Stacy (Brian) Carter, and Shelly (Matthew) Smith; 8 grandchildren, Megan Carter, Brandon Carter, Kelsey Peach, Emily Smith, Andrew Peach, Christian Smith, Jessica Marcum and Mason Carter; eight sisters and brothers, Joyce (Gene) Holmes, Deborah (Forrest) Palmer, Phillip (Pat) Marcum, Joe (Sheila) Marcum, Sue (Jimmy) Caudill, Sandra (Granby) Smith, Paul (Jennifer) Marcum, and Johnny Marcum.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, January 26th at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Rev. Bart Price officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Lexington, KY with military honors. Visitation will be 3 – 8 PM Sunday and after 10 AM Monday at the funeral home.

Brad Carter, Brian Carter, Matthew Smith, Brandon Carter, Christian Smith, and Andrew Peach will serve as pallbearers. Honorary bearers will be Glenn Drury, Johnnie Mitchell, Jimmy Bowen, Jimmy Caubill, Gene Holmes, Granby Smith, Bobby Durr and Forrest Palmer
