Funeral Service Broadcast for James Paul Harley

James Paul Harley, age 94, husband of the late Jerelene Chapman Harley, passed away on April 1, 2025, at his daughter's residence in Magnolia, KY. He was born in Anderson County on November 28, 1930, to the late J.W. Harley and Hattie Mae Dennis Harley.

Paul was a dedicated farmer, having raised tobacco and hay, managed a dairy operation for many years, and later transitioned to raising beef cattle. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1956. For thirty-one years, Paul worked as a Rural Mail Carrier in Lawrenceburg, always known for his reliable service to the community.

A quiet and gentle man, Paul lived a life of faith and kindness. His devotion to God was evident in all that he did, serving as a Sunday School teacher, Training Union teacher, and deacon at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He made it a practice to show God's love through acts of kindness, believing in making a difference at least once daily. Through his church service, his contributions to the community, and his service to his country, Paul left a lasting impact on many lives.

In addition to his wife and parents, Paul was preceded in death by his twin sons, Steven and Stewart; his brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Etta Harley; and his brothers-in-law, Shelby and Thomas Chapman.

He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Mae Harley (Chuck Cravens); two granddaughters, Harley S. Keller and Clair Keller; several nephews, great nephews, and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, with Bro. Bobby Chesser officiating. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery in Anderson County. Visitation will be held from 11 AM – 8 PM Sunday, April 6, and after 11 AM on Monday.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Harley, Sonny Chapman, Alex Harley, Danny Adams, Carver Chapman, and Johnny Dennis. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Drury and the deacons at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
