James Phillip Burgess, age 39, passed away September 7, 2026 in Lexington, KY.  Born in Lexington, KY on September 21, 1986, he is the son of James Wayne Burgess, Jr. and Angela Hope Crowe Burgess of Lawrenceburg.

A 2005 graduate of Anderson County High School, James attended trade school and worked as a Journeyman HVAC installer for Disponette Service Company in Lexington.  He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and spending time with his family.  He loved to make others laugh with his larger-than-life personality.  James professed his belief in Christ.

James is survived by his parents, Wayne and Angela Hope Burgess of Lawrenceburg; maternal grandmother, Reatha Crowe of Lexington; paternal grandfather, Phillip Bannister of Lexington; his sisters, Kimberlee (Joseph) Harberson of Versailles and Ashlee (Jacob) Dye of Lawrenceburg; two nieces, Lainee and Ivee Harberson and a nephew, Carter Hatchell; and an uncle, Scott Bannister of Lexington.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Jeri Bannister and maternal grandfather, Thomas Crowe.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, September 11, 2026 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Terry Cooper officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Harberson, Jacob Dye, Nathan Dye, James Agee, Paul McKinney, and Eurich Downey.
