Mr. James Francis Brooks, Ph.D, 81, passed away March 22, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Born Feb. 9, 1935 to Leonard and Alma Baker Brooks in Huntington, WV, he earned his Master Degree in Mathematics from FSU Tallahassee and his Ph.D in Mathematical Topology in 1969 at UK. The same year he started as a professor of mathematics at EKU retiring to Lawrenceburg, KY in 1999.

Jim is survived by his wife of 10 years, Sherri Franklin Hahn; his children Rachel Brooks (Michael Lucia) of Reno, NV, James Matthew (Anne) Brooks of Lexington, Leslie (Patrick) Peters of Lawrenceburg, Lastacia (Steve) Dalton of Louisville, Michael (Sarah) Hahn of Lawrenceburg, and Ryan (FaFa) Hahn of Los Angeles, CA; 14 grandchildren, Olivia Brooks, Tyler, Evan, and Wyatt Peters, Caroline, Sophie, Chris, Mike, and Cameron Dalton, Dalton, Madison, Christian, Lily, and Mason Hahn; a great grandson, Lincoln Dalton; and a sister, Vivian Wiley of Gilbert, AZ. Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Iris Spinner and a brother, Leonard Lee Brooks.

A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at 6:00 PM Friday, March 25th at Fox Creek Christian Church, 2020 Fox Creek Rd., Lawrenceburg, KY with Pastors Garrett Franklin and Jeff Eaton officiating. A time of visitation will be from 4 – 6 pm Friday at the church.
