James R. "J.R." "Jake" Barnett, age 89, husband of 68 years to Hedy Shouse Barnett, passed away, Monday, September 18, 2023.  Jake was born June 20, 1934 in Washington County, KY to the late William Chester Barnett and Rose Kate Barker Barnett.

Jake was a 42-year retired employee with Jim Beam Brands Distillery in Frankfort and a lifetime member of Fairview Christian Church.  Jake never met a stranger and loved to drive his truck to visit others.  He enjoyed farming, fishing and gardening.

Including his wife Hedy, Jake is survived by his children, Glenda Gay, Libby Ann Goodlett (Drew) and Lowell Wayne Barnett, all of Lawrenceburg; three grandchildren, Taylor Westerfield (Casie), Brent Campbell and Dawn Cheek (Don); two great grandchildren, Cory Doss and Brey Gorrell; and several great great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Bell Welch of Frankfort and Linda Joe Coulter of Bloomfield.

Including his parents, Jake was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Barnett and a sister, Shirley Grigsby.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Al Peach officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, September 22, 2023 from 5 – 8 P.M., and after 9 A.M. Saturday till time of service.

Casket bearers will be Casie Westerfield, Drew Goodlett, Cory Doss, Brey Gorrell, Eddie Carey and Jeff Shouse.  Honorary bearers will be Brent Campbell and Lowell Barnett.
