Jackie Maurice Gritton, 81, husband of Joyce Cunningham Gritton, passed away June 30, 2022 at Baptist Health Lexington.  Born in Anderson County on December 29, 1940, Jackie was the son of the late Sidney M. Gritton and Evelyn Gregory Gritton.

A 1958 graduate of Anderson High School, Jackie worked 31 years as a Route Salesman at Kentucky Overall Service and served as the Union Steward.  A current member of the Graefenburg Christian Church, he was a former member of Shelby Christian Church where he served as an Elder, youth sponsor and teacher.  He was a former Cub Scout Master, served as Past President of the Salt River Christian Men's Fellowship and was recently awarded the Kentucky Colonel.

Jackie enjoyed traveling, listening to gospel music, reading Louis L'Amour western novels, spending time outside on his tractor and working in his flowers.  In the winter months he spent time working jigsaw puzzles while sitting in front of the fireplace.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Including Joyce, his wife of 61 years, he is survived by his children, Barry (wife Jill) Gritton of Flat Rock, MI and Amy (husband Fabien) Royer of Port Angeles, WA; four grandchildren, Candace (Jeffery) Byrd, Joshua Gritton, Chase Gritton, and Dylan Royer; five great grandchildren, Morgan, Trenton, Karlee, Kyleigh, Kaitlyn; siblings, Barbara Hahn of Lexington, Lana (husband Jim) Watson of Shelbyville, and Stewart Gritton; multiple nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog companion Pippie.  Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Kevin Dwayne Gritton and Jackie Christopher Gritton, and a granddaughter, Riley Marie Schon.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 7, beginning at 1:00 PM at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Forrest Hahn, III officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM Wednesday, July 6 ^th .

Serving as pallbearers will be Candace Byrd, Josh Gritton, Chase Gritton, Trenton Perry, Jamie Cunningham, and Ashley Gritton.
