J.R. Pinkston, 91, husband of the late Mable Marie Nutgrass Pinkston, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at his home.   Born February 26, 1926 in Washington County, KY, J.R. was the son of the late Robert Ernest Pinkston and Lillie Kyler Pinkston.

J.R. served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W. II.   Following his service, he worked as an employee with General Electric in Louisville, as a farmer, a water hauler, and served on the Anderson County Board of Education. He was a member and elder of the New Liberty Christian Church, a 70 year member of the Sharpsville Masonic Lodge, and a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Hamilton Chapter #293.

J.R. is survived by his daughter, Kim Pinkston, three grandchildren, Jessica (Martin) Young, Jeanie Sutherland, and Jeremy Sutherland, and a great grandchild, Jett Tyler Young, all of Lawrenceburg.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 24 ^th beginning at 11 AM at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Bro. Jerry Perry and Bro. Joe Earl Brown will officiate the service. Burial with military honors will follow in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin. Visitation will be held from 3 – 6 PM on Sunday. Masonic rites will be observed at 5 PM Sunday followed by the Order of the Eastern Star service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Martin Young, Brian Williams, Jeremy Sutherland, Greg Hall, Darrell Wayne Pinkston, and Delane Pinkston. Honorary bearers will be Lavalle Scott, Glenn Pinkston, Price Watkins, Kenny Stanton, and members of the Men's and Women's Sunday School Class of New Liberty Christian Church.
