Herman Shryock, Jr., 90, husband of Jane Ellen Burton Shryock, passed away on August 19, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on December 10, 1935, in Anderson County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Herman Shryock, Sr. and Gracie Margaret Flora Shryock.

Herman was a 1954 graduate of Anderson High School and retired from Kentucky Utilities, where he worked at the Tyrone Power Plant. An outdoorsman at heart, Herman enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a deep love for his farm, where he raised cattle, tobacco, and hay. He also enjoyed cooking and, above all, cherished spending time with his family.

Along with his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his siblings, Dortha Elizabeth Searcy, Hugh Alfred Shryock, and Cecil Jackson Shryock.

In addition to his wife of 72 years, Jane Ellen Burton Shryock of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Herman is survived by his children, Jerry Lee (Donna) Shryock of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Judy Ann (Ed) Robson of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Dortha Jane Ethington of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and Jeanna Marie (Wayne) Steele of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Jason Lynn (Emily) Wells, Adam Patrick Wells, Ellie Marie (Kevin) Reynolds, Jennifer Ann Ethington, Emily Jane Ethington, and Sean Thomas Steele; and his great-grandchildren, Kloi Marie Wells, Adylen May Wells, Gracie Leigh Reynolds, and Asher Hunt Wells.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, with Dr. Jeff Eaton and David Shryock officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, and after 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Monday.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gordon Catlett, David Cottrell, Barry Eubank, Billy Hyatt, Jason Wells, and Adam Wells. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Reynolds, Ed Robson, Wayne Steele, and Sean Steele.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Herman are suggested to Camp Calvary, 475 Camp Calvary Lane, Mackville, KY 40040.
