Harold L. Cornish, 85, husband of 65 years to Phyllis Webb Cornish, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Bluegrass Hospice Care Center, Lexington. Born April 2, 1932 in Washington County, KY, Harold was the son of the late Elvin and Anna Lou Hooper Cornish.

Including his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his only daughter, Rita Marlene Cornish, and a brother, Jackie Cornish.

Harold began his years of public service as a Deputy Sheriff for 5 years for the former Anderson County Sheriff Paul Catlett. Harold went on to serve 17 years as Anderson County's Sheriff. Prior to his years of public service, Harold worked as a farmer and 18 years for Kraft Foods in Lawrenceburg. He was a member of the Glensboro Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Harold was known for his trading, going to auctions, and his love of old cars.

Along with his wife, Harold is survived by his four sons, Steve (Judy) Cornish of Lawrenceburg, Keith (Janet) Cornish of Marion County, Harold Wayne (Trish) Cornish of Lawrenceburg, and David Cornish of Lawrenceburg; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and three siblings, Jimmy (Mary) Cornish, Ronnie (Debbie) Cornish, and Nancy (Monty) Hale, all of Louisville.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 beginning at 11:00 AM at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Bro. Steve Wells will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 PM at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Masonic Rites will be observed at 7:30 PM Tuesday evening.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Cornish, Jeremy Cornish, Lyndon Cornish, Colton Cornish, Scott Nation, and Mike Nethery. Honorary bearers will be Troy Young, Jim Evans, Joy Peach, Juretta Wells, Tony Gates, Kenny Hooper, and Brad Nation.
