Obituary

Harold V. Carter, 86, husband of 64 years to Virginia Shouse Carter, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Baptist Health Lexington. Harold was born January 1, 1933 in Anderson County, KY to the late James Lester and Mamie (Gibson) Carter.

Including his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Frances, Samuel, Lelia Ray, Ollie, Dee, James Marshall, Margaret Agnes, and Garnett Jackson.

"Harold was a sports enthusiast and staunch University of Kentucky fan. He had a unique mindset in being able to design and create items and tools to solve various problems. He wouldn't buy an item, he would invent and make it!"

Harold was a retired 40 year employee with Square D in Lexington and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. An active member of First Baptist Church, Harold served as a Deacon since 1962, Trustee, Sunday school teacher, a Royal Ambassadors Director, committee for the Christian Life Center, and Director of the Television Ministry for 33 years. He was a member of the Optimist Club, former Commissioner for Little League Baseball and coached Junior Pro Basketball and Youth Football.

Including his wife, Harold is survived by his two sons, Mart "Marty" Vinson Carter and wife Sandi of Cincinnati, OH, and Keevin Shouse Carter and wife Marcia of Versailles; four grandchildren, Tyler Carter and wife Emily, Jordan Carter, Alexis Ellison and husband Josh, and Nickolas Isaiah Carter; a great grandchild, Carter Ellison; and five siblings, Edna Baxter, Bondy Carter, William Carter and wife Rayma, Roy Carter, and Shirley Robinson all of Lawrenceburg.

Services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Lawrenceburg First Baptist Church with Dr. Robert F. Ehr officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 – 2 Saturday at the church.

Serving as pallbearers will be George Hanks, Kenny Sea, Jesse Currens, Tyler Carter, Jordan Carter, Nickolas Carter, and Josh Ellison.  Honorary bearers will be Alexis Carter Ellison, Barry Robinson, FBC Television Ministry Team, and the Believers Sunday School Class.
